Heart of Appalachia Educational Opportunity Center is a program funded by the U.S. Dept of Education that helps adult students who want to pursue college or vocational/technical training. Educational Opportunity Centers (EOCs) are located throughout the United States and primarily serve displaced or under-employed workers. EOC counselors work one-to-one with clients or host workshops offering assistance with the following: School Selection and previewing, Admission process to any school, Locating sources of Financial Aid, Assistance with reconciliation of defaulted student loans, Career Planning and Interest Testing, Referrals to community resources, Information on High School Equivalency classes and testing.
